Many times the reason why people choose a Chapter 13 over a Chapter 7 bankruptcy is because they are behind on their mortgage or auto payments and need time to get caught up. If you are behind on your payments and you are wanting to get caught up then a Chapter 13 would allow you to consolidate your payments or balances into a single monthly payment that you would make to a Trustee of the Court.
